How the On-The-Job Training (OJT) program works:

Must have previously served in the U.S. military or a family member with Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits available. It could take the V.A. approximately 90 days to determine eligibility.

We ARE NOT a truck driving school, you must have your CDL-A to join our team.

If you qualify for the Post 9/11 GI benefits, you are eligible to get up to 12 monthly payments from the V.A. while you receive on-the-job training.

Everyone participating in this program will receive 5 weeks behind the wheel training, the remaining 47 weeks you will work with a mentor & leadership for follow-up training/ communication.

Eligible veterans will complete all required paperwork during orientation. Benefit checks are paid directly from the Department of Veteran Affairs, not Averitt, usually 4-6 weeks after training begins.

Eligible to earn up to $1,140 per month tax free using your available Post 9/11 GI Bill funds PLUS your weekly Averitt paycheck PLUS up to $4,800 tuition/transition bonus from Averitt (paid weekly)!

Military Student Training Program:

- Must have a valid CDL-A with Post 9/11 GI benefits available.

- Must have graduated from one of our approved truck driving schools in the past 180 days
OR have any tractor trailer experience in the past 10 years (recruiter will review eligibility).

- You will be paid $600/ week for the first 5-weeks of behind the wheel training.

About this dedicated position:
- Picking up preloaded trailers at the customer's distribution center in Scottsville, KY.
- Making deliveries to retail stores located in Tennessee, Kentucky, Southern Indiana & Southern Ohio.
- Make deliveries Tuesday - Saturday on a regular basis; with occasional Sunday and Monday deliveries determined by customer.
- Average 4-5 loads per week.
- Once empty, you'll return to the DC for your next load.
- This position requires unloading using roll-tainers, U-boats, and the trailer liftgate
- Start pay is .42 cpm (after 5 weeks of OJT training)
- Top out pay of .44 cpm reached within 3 years.
- Average 1,300 miles per week.
- Stop pay of $21 per stop with .25 cent increase every 90 days until top out at $22.00.
- Average 15 stops per week.
- Unloading pay of $45 per trailer with .50 cent increase every 90 days until top out at $50.00
- You have the potential to earn a weekly average of $1,086! (after 6 weeks of OJT training)

Requirements

- Must live within 150 mile radius of an Averitt Service Center in which you are applying for.
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have graduated from one of our approved truck driving schools in the past 180 days
OR have any tractor trailer experience in the past 10 years (recruiter will review eligibility).

- Drivers must have Class A CDL
- No convictions for reckless driving within the past 5 years
- No convictions for DUI within the past 5 years
- No suspensions or revocations within the last 5 years
- No serious violations within previous 12 months (15 mph or greater, following too closely, improper passing, traffic offense committed in a CMV in connection with fatality)
- No more than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years.
- No preventable DOT recordable accidents within the past 3 years.

Essential functions:
- Load freight - lift requirement: 80 lbs
- Unload freight - lift requirement: 80 lbs
- Move freight - force requirement: 54 lbs
- Open/Close Trailer Doors - force requirement: 46 lbs
- Count freight
- Complete fuel tickets
- Obtain sales leads
- Hook/Unhook trailer - force requirement: 90 lbs (Class A Only)
- Perform pre-trip inspections
- Drive
- Regular predictable attendance
- Enter/Exit a Commercial Motor Vehicle
- Enter/Exit the rear of a trailer from ground level
